The Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) Research Group focuses on advancing innovative methods for assessing, monitoring, and managing the condition and performance of civil infrastructure throughout its lifecycle. The group develops and applies sensing technologies, data-driven analytics, artificial intelligence, digital twin frameworks, and structural dynamics approaches to detect damage, evaluate structural integrity, and improve the resilience and sustainability of buildings, bridges, and other critical infrastructure. Through interdisciplinary research and collaboration with industry partners, the group aims to enhance infrastructure safety, optimise maintenance strategies, and support evidence-based decision-making for asset management in the face of ageing infrastructure, environmental hazards, and climate-related challenges.
