    Abstract

    This essay comments on the phenomenon of deja-vu in the work of Herzog and de Meuron, in particular their Serpentine Pavilion of 2012 which, it is argued, makes references to literature (Proust's cork-lined room), the park in which it sits and other work of the architects.
