    Abstract

Blowing Water, Critical Care is a publication of edited conversations that JJ Chan and Sunshine Wong have had with peers, studio holders and neighbouring organisations who are supportive of Bloc Projects in differing ways. Established in 2002, Bloc Projects is a contemporary arts organisation in the centre of Sheffield. The printed extracts are from conversations revolve around notions of care in all its direct and tangential forms: slowness, leaning-on, generosity and chatting. In fact, 'blowing water‘ is slang for 'having a chat‘ in Cantonese — both JJ‘s and Sunshine‘s first language — which, given the unstable year, largely became the form of Bloc Project's inaugural longitudinal residency Blueprints for the Otherwise. As extracts of conversations, the editors acknowledge that these conversations are left unfinished, as they then handover to the next artists in residence.
