[Case study] Inclusive stakeholder engagement in corporate sustainability research: a UAE-based measurement model development

Research output: Book/ReportOther long-form outputpeer-review

Abstract

This case study explores the development of an inclusive and contextually grounded corporate sustainability measurement model in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), based on original research that applied stakeholder theory and the triple bottom line framework. It focuses on key methodological and practical challenges encountered during the research process, including inclusive sampling, culturally sensitive instrument design, and ethical considerations in a multilingual and multicultural environment. Designed to support students and early-career researchers in the social sciences, the case highlights how inclusive research practices enhance the validity, relevance, and impact of sustainability research. Readers will gain practical insights into adapting research tools for diverse stakeholder groups, engaging ethically in cross-cultural settings, and ensuring that their research reflects the lived experiences of all relevant participants. These lessons can be applied across various fields to strengthen inclusive, ethical, and context-responsive research design.
