    Abstract

A live performance and installation with diagram. The premise is to channel the spirits of three recently dead singers through their music, to listen to them 'speak'. Pva copies of records by Prince, Leonard Cohen and David Bowie are played in turn on a record player for the live performance. The needle gets caught in looped sections playing backwards, and an assistant in a mask interprets what he hears, whispering in my ear. I then add the words forming a large diagram in chalk on the wall behind me. A small hand drawn image of the singer is in each case projected on to the ceiling from the turntable, spinning as the record turns. The completed wall diagram along with the apparatus for the performance is displayed for the remainder of the exhibition.
