Abstract

This BERA Higher Education SIG event provides the opportunity to discuss views and perspectives on the proposed TEF and other aspects of the recent Green Paper. The day will be in two parts -the morning session will feature four presentations from colleagues, each with their particular perspectives and showcasing key research that reflect the themes and possible impact of the 'teaching excellence framework‘, however it may be defined. The afternoon session will take the form of a critical discussion around issues arising from the Autumn and Spring issues of BERA Research Intelligence, 2015/16 on the TEF (URLS will be circulated in advance).

Bibliographical note

Impact: The HE symposium links to my recent publications and presentations on theory and theorising in HE, and their relevance to recent political developments in education in the UK and other neoliberalised countries, whereby critical pedagogy provides both an analytic lens for interpretation of political phenomena and a value position for professional practitioners.

Papers presented demonstrated the effects of the monterization of HE, the demand for 'big data' research as 'evidence' and the 'learning analytics' that purportedly measure quality in education, learning and teaching.
