Abstract

This manual is designed to guide the reader in their development of skills appropriate to working with clients with Dual diagnosis (coexisting mental health and substance use issues). It is not designed to be a comprehensive guide to substance use or mental health problems but focuses on the skills required to work successfully with this client group. This manual is designed to accompany a dual diagnosis skills training course, not to replace a course or to be used in isolation. However, if you have attended a training course it will be useful as a reference guide to return to refresh your skills and knowledge.
