    Abstract

The film uses the journey of a shore angler across Dunwich Beach to explore modes of fishing industries in this town which has slowly been unmade over the last 800 years by the very sea that supports such industry. The upturned hulls and ramshackle fishing huts containing industrial machinery for winching fishing boats suggest a local, small scale fishing industry. In contrast, the angler carries their portable tools of a personal industry, finding a place on the pebbled beach, looking out to the sea in which the lost town lies buried.
