Abstract
This piece was written for Kate Ryder as part of our joint research project into electronically extending the piano.
This piece is based on the conceit that the piano itself interrupts a live performance of a new work with its own reminiscences of a previous performance of Beethoven's sonata in E major opus 109. This triggers many questions about the nature of musical time and how memory is fundamental to musical experience.
