Abstract

Successful teaching requires the deployment of a combination of knowledge and skills that it is not coherent to expect from a computer system. There are limits to the role of computers. The insights of humanities specialists are vital if computers are to be of practical benefit to human beings. The chapter explores the potential of fifth generation computing systems.
