    Abstract

This paper explores the nature of British fascism during the 1920s, and how both Left and Right responded to the emergence of early fascism in Britain. Fascism in this country during the early 1920s was often viewed as being very much based on the Italian prototype of fascism and, through a discussion of the 'British Fascisti' and the breakaway 'National Fascisti', the extent to which this is an accurate assessment is discussed.
