Abstract
Keith Tester (1960-2019) displayed a persistent critical sociological imagination. He spent his career engaging with the question 'what use is sociology?‘ In order to consider this question he explored the complex interconnections between culture and morality drawing on the social thought of Zygmunt Bauman. Tester published at least 13 sole-authored and four co-authored monographs as well edited collections and numerous essays, journal articles and papers. This entry gives an overview of his main ideas, publications and cultural interests, which he considered to be integral to the formation of sociological thinking
