    Abstract

    This article considers the brief career of the young Irish medical officer Dr. Joseph Moloney, an explorer of the Congo in Africa, who is buried in Kingston Cemetery. Moloney was the medical officer on the 'Stairs Expedition' to Katangaland in the Congo in 1891-92, and helped save the expedition from disaster.
