Abstract
Richard Squires discusses the animated world of Let Me Feel Your Finger First, drawing on cartoon representations of defective children, marrying background rocks from the land of the Smurfs with R.D Laing‘s ideas about the petrified subject and foregrounding the enduring influence of blackface minstrelsy on the design and behaviour of mainstream animated characters. The presentation includes screenings of several animated shorts by Let Me Feel Your Finger First.
