    Abstract

This book interrogates museum presentations as media of current engagement. The characteristic of this medium is its spatial presentation using objects and materials to refer to, remember or communicate something past or different. The connection to specific times and spaces provides always already a distant between the museum and its objects as well as its presented contexts. The subject of this examination of form of museum presentations is the exhibition space and intentional spatial experience of visitors. Case studies in Oxford, Leipzig, Amsterdam and Berlin are analysed using a combination of semiotic theory with thorough description.
