Abstract
Moving Out is a public art video installation, on display for 3 years, at the Tessa Jowell Health Centre in South London. R&D Studio worked in collaboration with choreographers Jules Cunningham and Annie Pui Ling Lok in a 6-week dance and movement participation project, including a public sharing in the health centre foyer.
The workshops explored themes of wellbeing, recovery, touch, tenderness, rest and companionship. The participants also looked towards the permanent collection at the Dulwich Picture Gallery for inspiration and ideas.
R&D Studio filmed the movement workshops, and worked visually to interweave the personal performances with paintings from the nearby collection, and further imagery filmed in the local area during springtime. The aim was to gently touch upon the participants individual experiences of health and recovery.
