    Bibliographical note

Impact: This publication is focussed on Climate and is a direct response to the growing issue of global heating. An anthology of essays, fiction, poetry and photography, it is the first themed issue to be produced of the Mechanics‘ Institute Review, an established, peer-reviewed journal published by Birkbeck College. The publication will achieve significant impact through a series of three public events scheduled for London in autumn 2019 and supported by an independent press and publicity firm.
These events will be Citizen Forums on climate change and will take the format of BBC's long-running current affairs and public engagement programme 'Question Time.' In them, likeminded, concerned citizens and activists will come together as well as writers, artists, academics, scientists and psychologists, to think about one of the most pressing issues facing us today - the changing climate around us. We want to know what we can do, and how we can use our creative, emotional and intellectual energy to push for positive change. These events are an opportunity to explore some of the key challenges in thinking about climate change, and to get involved in the conversation. They will offer an opportunity for concerned citizens to participate in the debate and think of ways in which they might respond - through art, direct action, lifestyle change - to the oncoming crisis.
