Entry for special issue on Keywords for Marxist Art History providing an historical overview of how the Popular as a conceptual category, and forms of popular art and culture, have been engaged with in Marxist art history, with a focus on Arnold Hauser's work on popular art and New Left Marxist art history, specficially the work of David Kunzle on comics.
