    Abstract

This article provides a brief history and analysis of the Sunbury Branch of the 'National Citizens Union' (NCU) in the period 1928-1931. The NCU, formerly known as the 'Middle Classes Union', were a national pressure group in the UK in the 1920s and 1930s, and had over 130 local branches across the country, including in the outer London area, some of which functioned for a lengthy period of time, while others flourished briefly and then went into rapid decline. The Sunbury Branch was an example of the latter.
