Still Lyrical

RuptureXIBIT is delighted to present Still Lyrical, an exhibition bringing together new works by contemporary artists Liz Crossfield, Hannah Delahay, Simon Klein, Fay Nicolson, and Molly Rose Butt - a group of painters living or working in South West London. Each artist explores a transition between the ‘still’ and the ‘lyrical’ - a state of liminality between rest and movement, chaos and contemplation. Still Lyrical invites a process of slow looking to appreciate varied materialities, qualities of paint, and approaches to mark making. Thematic and formal connections appear across works; such as references to mythology, still life and domestic space, cropped or loose figuration, and carefully chosen colour palettes that establish a mood and set the tone.
