    Abstract

This piece explores electronically adding glissandos and portamento effects to the standard piano sound. It was written at the keyboard while exploring the sometimes unpredictable sounds that the software produced in response to various types of key touch. The use of sampled piano sounds links the acoustic and electronic sources and unifies the sound quality. This music is for a hybrid instrument, the extended piano, playing it on a conventional instrument would simply not work.
