Abstract

This presentation outlines key points and strategies for making an application for PhD study in the field of English Language, Literature and Applied Linguistics in the UK. It considers the process from 'desk-based' personal research activities to submission of the application form and draft proposal.

Impact: This presentation links to my work in the field of internationalisation of HE and specifically, widening participation of international students in the doctorate. It is concerned with explaining and clarifying the process of proposal writing and application to join UK universities for potential research students in Algeria. As a consequence of this presentation and the training workshops. approx. 45 candidates have been placed UK HE institutions.
