Abstract

An account of a UK lecturer and nurse practitioner who joined a team of American physicians in the Dominican Republic. An account of her experiences with the team, as they journeyed to rural areas of the Dominican Republic and borders of Haiti, providing free medical care and medications. An overview of the activities of this volunteer group and their potential impact are discussed. Finally, the impact of the trip on the author is considered.
